Come face-to-face with the female Asian elephants in the peaceful parkland of Woburn Safari Park, in your unforgettable Elephant Encounter experience!

Meet the stars of the safari on an off-road guided tour of the animal reserves as you learn about the amazing animals living at the Park, including lions, macaque monkeys, tigers, giraffes, rhinos and more!

Next, you'll be transported into the private parkland of Woburn, where you'll get up close to the Asian elephant herd, including adorable juvenile Tarli. Woburn Safari Park is the only place in the UK you can enjoy getting this close to these majestic animals.

Walk alongside the elephants and watch them peacefully grazing as they would in the wild - with no barriers between you!

Plus, enjoy an incredible photo opportunity with one of the adult female Asian elephants as a lasting memento to your fantastic day out as part of your VIP package.

Your VIP elephant experience includes:

One hour experience with the females of the elephant herd, allowing time for photos and a chat with keepers and your tour guide.
A one hour 'VIP Safari Off Road Adventure' experience. Your afternoon starts with this guided tour through the wild animal reserves in the Road Safari in a VIP Land Rover.
Admission to Woburn Safari Park from park opening times (usually 9.30am)
The latest Safari Park Guidebook (subject to availability)
A £10 lunch voucher to use in one of two restaurants at the Park (includes a hot or cold meal and a drink).

Refunds & Cancellations

Experiences are non-transferable.

If you are booking this as a gift for someone else, once you have completed your purchase, please send an email to vip@woburnsafari.co.uk to confirm the name of the person who will take part in the experience.

If, for any reason, there are obligatory cancellations due to Covid 19 restrictions, then we may have to make some reasonable changes, in order to reduce the risk of transmission. This might include moving an experience to a later date, or reducing the number of people travelling in a Land Rover together. You will be contacted in regards to any necessary changes, as soon as possible.

This tour is only available for adults aged 16 or over on the date of the experience
A face covering is required whilst travelling inside the VIP Land Rover with your guide
Unfortunately the VIP Bigfoot vehicle and VIP Land Rovers are not wheelchair accessible
Please note that some walking is required

Are there restrictions?

How long do I get with the elephants?

Usually between 45-60 minutes in total, depending on travel across the park (peak summer holiday times may be slower, due to traffic)

Can I touch the elephants?

This is up to the discretion of the keepers on the day who have to keep the welfare of the animals and your safety in mind. There is never any guarantee with wild animals because we will always give them the freedom to refuse to take part in any activities.

Can I get a photo with the elephants?

Yes, there will be an opportunity for a photo with one of the female Asian elephants.

How much walking is involved?

This is dependant on the elephants on the day, but we do advise you wear sturdy footwear as the ground may be uneven.

The booking dates are only available to people who have registered their interest and are on the waiting list. Woburn Safari Park takes no responsibility for any issues you might encounter when trying to access the booking site

When can I book for?

You can now register your interest in 2023 dates for the Elephant Encounter by adding your details to the waiting list below.

Individuals on the waiting list will be informed first, then spaces will be opened to everyone shortly afterwards.

Is my booking exclusive to me?

No, each VIP Experience is non-exclusive, which means if you don't book all ten places on the booking time and date, you will share your experience with other people.

Can I change the date if I need to?

Yes, if you are unable to attend for medical reasons, including for self-isolation for Covid 19, you will be able to re-book a new date (subject to availability)

If we are unable to offer you a suitable new date, it may be necessary to offer you a refund.
